Exterior Design

The BYD Great Tang EV features the latest family design language from BYD’s Dynasty Series, with a closed-off front grille at the front, with a trapezoidal air intake below. The headlights feature a split layout, with the exceptionally long, full-width daytime running lights being particularly eye-catching—composed of two full-width light strips that are narrow at the top and wider at the bottom. The brand logo on the front fascia is also illuminated, and when paired with the vertically arranged matrix-style headlights on either side, the design offers extremely high recognizability and a strong sense of technological sophistication. In terms of body colors, the new model will offer three two-tone color schemes and five classic solid-color paint options for consumers to choose from.

The side profile showcases the substantial size and proportions expected of a large SUV, with overall lines that are full and rounded. The new model features semi-concealed door handles for greater convenience; depending on the trim level, a variety of wheel designs are also available. In terms of dimensions, the Tang EV measures 5263/1999/1790 mm in length, width, and height, respectively, with a wheelbase of 3130 mm, fully meeting the standards of a full-size SUV. Additionally, as a pure electric vehicle, the new model offers a front trunk with a capacity of 252 L.

The rear design retains a distinct BYD style, appearing wide, substantial, and well-layered. While understated, it still exudes a sense of quality. The robust, full-width taillights echo the design of the headlights, featuring an interior motif reminiscent of a Chinese knot that creates a striking visual effect when illuminated.

Interior Design

The BYD Great Tang EV adopts a highly symmetrical design style that exudes the presence of a full-size SUV. At the same time, the interior materials provide an excellent sensory experience: Extensive leather upholstery, complemented by generous wood-grain trim, creates a sense of luxury while maintaining the warm, inviting atmosphere characteristic of a family car. The cabin features a newly designed three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, a digital instrument cluster, a large floating center touchscreen, a passenger-side display, and an AR-HUD head-up display system, while retaining a few physical shortcut buttons for ease of use. The new model is equipped with a next-generation AI smart cockpit powered by a 3nm cockpit chip that supports parallel operation of multiple models, significantly enhancing both the smoothness of the infotainment system and its AI interaction capabilities. In terms of other features, the vehicle also offers a Devialet audio system with 27 speakers and 50W wireless phone charging.

The BYD Great Tang EV features a 2+2+3 seven-seat layout. Both the first and second rows are equipped with zero-gravity seats featuring heating, ventilation, and massage functions, while the third-row seats also support electric adjustment and heating, ensuring excellent practicality. The second-row aisle is 20 centimeters wide, allowing passengers to move in and out of the third row with ease. Additionally, the vehicle offers rear overhead screens, fold-down tables, and an in-car refrigerator with heating and cooling functions.

Powertrain

The BYD Great Tang EV will be available in single-motor and dual-motor versions. The single-motor versions deliver maximum power outputs of 300 kW and 370 kW, respectively, while the dual-motor all-wheel-drive model can reach a maximum power output of 585 kW. All models are equipped with BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery, with capacities of 105.79 kWh, 130.15 kWh, and 130.15 kWh, respectively. with CLTC-rated ranges of 800 kilometers, 850 kilometers, and 900 kilometers, respectively. The new model will also feature BYD’s Flash Charge technology, enabling a 5-minute top-up and a full charge in 9 minutes—with only an additional 3 minutes required in cold weather; the all-wheel-drive variant accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. In addition, the Datang EV will feature a rear-wheel steering system and the “Yunnian-A” system, equipped with dual-chamber air suspension and road prediction capabilities. In terms of intelligent driving, it will be equipped with the “Eye of the Gods 5.0” advanced driver-assistance system, supporting assisted driving in both urban and highway environments.
