Exterior
This isn’t a car you casually park.
5,495 mm long. 2,006 mm wide. 1,850 mm tall, riding on a 3,430 mm wheelbase. Remember that wheelbase figure — it’s longer than most full-size luxury sedans, and it’s the entire reason the cabin works. Maextro itself is the JAC and Huawei joint effort, and the V800 sits at the top of it.
The face is deliberately restrained. Tall, near-vertical grille. A light bar spanning the full width. Slim headlamps that look almost apologetic about being there. No chrome cascades. Against the Alphard and the Lexus LM, that’s an interesting styling choice — it reads more like a private bank than a nightclub, and I think it’s the right call for the buyers this car chases. Chauffeur-driven clients don’t want to be noticed arriving.
Sliding doors both sides, naturally. The B-pillar is fairly slim and the glasshouse is deep, which matters more than brochure photos suggest — passengers step in and out without ducking, and that alone tells you who the car was designed around. Twenty-inch wheels fill the arches adequately, though on a body this large they can look modest in photographs.
One handling note before you order. Check your showroom doors, your lift, and the turning circle in your own yard. At just over two metres wide and five and a half long, this is not a vehicle you shuffle around a cramped forecourt. Dealers who plan for it early have an easy time. Dealers who don’t end up moving stock between sites.
Interior
Step in through the rear doors and the 3,430 mm wheelbase explains itself immediately. The second row is where the Maextro V800 is built to be experienced. Two captain’s chairs with recline, leg rests, heating, ventilation, massage. A substantial centre console between them. A dealer demo car sells itself from this seat, so make your first unit the high trim.
Third row is genuinely usable. Not the folding afterthought this class usually gets — adults fit, and the access path through the second row is wide enough to be dignified. That combination is rarer than it should be.
Up front, Huawei’s cabin software drives the displays, and there’s a lot of screen real estate. Polished and fast in Chinese. Language localisation for your market is a conversation worth having with us early, not at the port. Quieter at motorway speed than I expected, too — double glazing and serious sound deadening doing their job. Storage is generous, with cupholders and charge points everywhere your passengers will actually reach.
Powertrain and Chassis
The V800 is a REEV — a Range-Extended Electric Vehicle. A 1.5-litre turbocharged range extender generates electricity. It does not turn the wheels. Propulsion comes from the electric motor, with a CATL pack underneath and an 800V architecture handling the charging side.
CLTC figures: 340 km of pure electric running, 1,335 km combined. Read those honestly. The 340 covers most urban weeks without touching the generator. The 1,335 is what ends the range conversation with a fleet buyer running intercity routes. Your salespeople should lead with the electric number in cities and the combined number on long-haul pitches.
Active suspension is fitted, and here it earns its place. A car this tall and this heavy — well over two and a half tonnes with people aboard — pitches badly under braking on conventional dampers. The active system keeps it flat and keeps rear passengers comfortable, which in a chauffeur car is the whole point. Braking and refinement are the two areas where I’d genuinely push an importer to take a demo unit before committing to volume.
Worth repeating the acronym discipline on this one. The Maextro V800 is a REEV, not a PHEV. The distinction is not academic — a PHEV’s engine can drive the wheels, and this one can’t. Get the wording wrong in a glossy brochure and the first technically minded customer will correct you in public.
One more thing for hot-climate markets. Ask us about the cooling package and the glass specification before you order. A vehicle this size with this much glazing lives or dies on rear-seat climate performance, and it’s cheaper to specify it at the factory than to retrofit it at the port.
FAQ
What warranty and aftersales support applies to the Maextro V800? Coverage for the vehicle and the high-voltage battery is set out in your supply contract, and we’ll give you the current terms in writing before you quote. We supply technical documentation, wiring diagrams and diagnostic access, so your workshop isn’t locked out. Because the V800 is a Huawei-linked platform, software updates get handled in coordination with the factory. Ask us for the specific detail for your market rather than relying on general promises.
Which trim should I stock first? The high-spec second-row trim, almost every time. This is a chauffeur and executive vehicle. The massage seats, leg rests and rear entertainment are what the buyer is paying for. A base trim on your showroom floor undersells the product. For fleet buyers running hotel or airport shuttle work, we can look at a more durability-focused configuration — but that’s a different conversation with different priorities.
Is a REEV the right choice for my market? Where DC fast charging is dense and journeys are short, the V800 still works — 340 km of electric range covers the week. Where grid coverage is thin, fuel is easy to buy, or customers regularly cross borders, the REEV is the far more comfortable proposition. You get 1,335 km without depending on infrastructure. Weigh your customer’s daily pattern, not your own preference.
How do I import the Maextro V800 to my country? Give us the destination and we’ll map the route. Homologation or type approval is normally the first gate, followed by battery transport classification, charging-standard compatibility and any local content or emissions rules. We prepare the commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading, certificate of origin and conformity paperwork, and can arrange third-party inspection if your authority asks. Because of the vehicle’s size, we also confirm port handling and inland transport early.
How do you supply the Maextro V800 and how do we start? We’re a Chinese export company, so supply runs directly from us to you — no intermediary layer. Container or RoRo, depending on your port and volume. For a vehicle this large, RoRo is usually the straightforward option, though containers suit mixed allocations. We handle factory allocation, pre-shipment inspection, export documents and loading, and we report progress through build and voyage. To begin, send your company profile, target market, preferred trims and first-year volume. You’ll get availability, lead times and a formal quotation in return.
