Dongfeng Forthing is a passenger vehicle brand under Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor Co., Ltd., a wholly state-owned holding company jointly owned by Dongfeng Motor Group and Liuzhou Industrial Investment Group. The company is headquartered in the Automobile City of Liudong New District, Liuzhou, Guangxi. Founded in 1954, the company entered the automotive manufacturing sector in 1969. It has an annual production capacity of 300,000 passenger vehicles and 80,000 commercial vehicles, and owns independent brands such as “Fengxing” and “Chenglong.”
In 2001, it launched the Forthing Lingzhi, and in 2014, it released the CM7 business vehicle. In 2021, the entire lineup adopted the “Jingshi” logo to drive brand renewal. In November 2022, the company unveiled its “Photosynthesis Future” new energy strategy, planning to fully electrify its entire lineup within three years, cease production of fuel-powered vehicles within five years, and transition into a mainstream new energy brand by 2025. In April 2024, it launched the Forthing Xinghai new energy series; the first model, the Xinghai V9, features the Mahe 1.5TD hybrid system with a combined range of 1,300 kilometers; In September, the Star Sea S7 pure-electric sedan was launched, built on the S2-E architecture with a drag coefficient of 0.191; in May 2025, the Lingzhi family officially unveiled a new lineup of new energy vehicles, covering both pure-electric and range-extended versions; in August, the Dongfeng Forthing Star Sea V9 “Yuexiang” series officially went on sale; in November, the Forthing Star Sea S7 800V Ultra-Fast Charging Edition was officially launched in Guangzhou. On March 9, 2026, Dongfeng Forthing held a brand launch event in Bangkok, Thailand, officially announcing its entry into the Thai market.
