The SAIC Z7 is the first coupe from the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance built on a SAIC Motor platform — a mid-to-large pure-electric fastback sedan, no engine, no range-extender, just battery and motors. It sits on a 3000 mm wheelbase inside a 5036 mm body, and the headline number is 905 km CLTC from the 100 kWh pack. Exterior

Low and wide without trying too hard. That fastback roofline drops clean into the tail, and the whole car reads longer than its 5036 mm suggests — the bit I’d point out to a customer is the stance, not the badge. Up front there are 408 laser light points in the headlamp cluster that sweep with the steering, and the diamond taillights throw a starfield effect at night that honestly photographs better than most rivals at twice the money.

Frameless doors, semi-flush handles, a roof-mounted LiDAR pod that doesn’t ruin the silhouette. Tires run staggered — 245/45 R20 up front, 275/40 R20 at the rear — which is the kind of detail that matters once you’re past the brochure numbers. Interior

Calmer in here than the shell outside would have you expect. A large HarmonyOS central screen floats above the dash, driven by the Qualcomm 8295 chip so nothing lags, and the front passenger gets their own “Inspiration Showcase” nook — a recessed magnetic shelf for whatever they want on display. Four interior colourways, two-tone, with integrated sport seats that actually hold you.

The bit worth repeating: dual zero-gravity seats up front, 120° recline, heat, vent and massage as standard on the higher trims. Dual-motor all-wheel drive pairs a 170 kW front motor with that same 264 kW rear for 434 kW system, 3.44 seconds to 100 km/h, and a top speed of 242 km/h. Underneath there are double wishbones up front and a five-link independent rear, plus continuous damping — which is unusual at this price and shows up in how flat the car stays through a corner for something standing this tall.
