Recently, BYD officially launched a time-limited “one-bite price” or time-limited subsidy promotional activities, involving a total of 22 Smart Driving Edition models on Dynasty and Ocean networks, with a maximum subsidy of up to 53,000 yuan.
Specific models price reduction
On May 23rd, BYD Ocean Network officially announced the launch of a limited time one-bite price activities, its Seagull, Seal 05DM-i, Seal 06DM-i, Dolphin, Song PLUS DM-i and other models guide price reduction.
Among them, the seagull limited time one-bite price of 55,800 yuan (about $7800), seal 05DM-i limited time one-bite price of 59,800 yuan (about $8400), dolphin limited time one-bite price of 77,800 yuan (about $10,900). The biggest price drop belongs to the Seal 07, which is priced at 102,800 yuan ($14,400) for a limited time, a discount of 53,000 yuan (about $7,500) compared to the previous guide price.
In addition, BYD Dynasty Network also launched the “618 rush to buy” activities, in which the price of Qin PLUS DM-i after the discount is as low as 63,800 yuan (about $9,000), Song Pro DM-i after the discount is as low as 89,800 yuan (about $12,600), and the price of Yuan UP after the discount is as low as 84,800 yuan (about $12,600), and the price of the Song Pro DM-i after the discount is as low as $89,800 (about $12,600). Prices start as low as 84,800 yuan ($11,900), Han EV prices start as low as 154,800 yuan (about $21,800) and Tang DM-i prices start as low as 154,800 yuan (about $21,800) after discounts.
Are the price cuts real?
It should be noted that the limited-time one-bite price offered by BYD Ocean includes national replacement subsidy and BYD replacement subsidy. And the limited time one-bite price launched by BYD Dynasty also includes BYD’s replacement subsidy.
Combined with BYD’s limited-time one-bite price and the previous situation, this price reduction is false, although it is said to be a price reduction, but the removal of the state and BYD’s replacement subsidies, in turn, the price is up. In other words, for those who want to import BYD cars from China, the price hasn’t changed much because they can’t benefit from China’s subsidy and BYD’s replacement subsidy.
The purpose of BYD’s one-bite price
According to media reports, behind the big promotions, BYD is trying to push ahead with its 2025 sales target. This year, BYD’s sales target is set at 5.5 million units, an increase of nearly 30% year-on-year, with an overseas sales target of about 800,000 units. According to BYD’s production and sales data, from January to April this year, BYD’s cumulative sales of new energy vehicles totaled about 1.38 million units, completing about a quarter of the annual sales target.
In April 2025, BYD’s cumulative sales totaled 380,089 units, up 21.3% year-on-year, of which 372,615 passenger cars were sold, up 19.4% year-on-year.
In terms of specific data, BYD Auto Dynasty and Ocean Net sold 347,053 units, up 16.5% year-on-year; Equation Leopard sold 10,039 units, up 375.8% year-on-year; Tengshi sold 15,388 units, up 38.4% year-on-year; Ranging Auto sold 135 units; and 78,705 units of passenger cars and pickup trucks were sold overseas, up 91.9% year-on-year.
On April 25, BYD released its quarterly report, showing that its revenue in the first quarter of 2025 was 170.36 billion yuan, an increase of 36.35% year-on-year; net profit was 9.15 billion yuan, an increase of 100.38% year-on-year.
For the reason of performance growth, BYD mentioned in the financial report, mainly due to the growth of new energy vehicle business.
In the first quarter of this year, BYD’s cumulative sales of new energy vehicles totaled 1,008,000 units, an increase of 59.81% year-on-year; of which 206,000 units of new energy vehicles were sold overseas, an increase of about 110% year-on-year.
