M-Hero was officially launched in Wuhan by Dongfeng Motor, which officially announced the Mangshi brand and the exclusive “M” logo system, and globally debuted the Mangshi Intelligent Off-road Architecture M TECH, which was unveiled on August 27, 2022 at the conference.
M-Hero is also innovatively equipped with intelligent technologies such as the Oriental Eagle Eye Intelligent Drone System, Intelligent Security System, and L3 Intelligent Driver Assistance System, further enhancing the intelligent off-road experience. The appearance of the concept vehicle draws styling inspiration from the “Waking Lion of the East” and interprets the design concept of “Male Soul”, which are all based on Dongfeng’s self-developed intelligent off-road architecture of the Mastodon, M TECH.
Currently, the mainstream products under the M-Hero brand include M-Hero 917 and M-Hero M800.

M-TECH Intelligent Off-road Architecture
As China’s first luxury electric off-road technology solution, the M-TECH architecture contains three core modules: the skateboard off-road platform MORA (supporting pure electric/range-extended power and a variety of model derivatives), the Mast Power MEGA-POWER (four-motor drive, with a wheelside torque of more than 16,000N-m), and the Off-road All-Terrain Intelligent Solution M-ATS (supporting the Snow/Mud/Sand/ Rock/Wading five modes and Intelligent AUTO Mode 4). Super Thousand Horsepower Powertrain
The pure electric version is equipped with four motors with a total power of 800kW (about 1088hp), 100km acceleration of 4.2 seconds, matched with a 142.7kWh battery pack, and a CLTC range of 505km; the range-extended version adopts a 1.5T high-efficiency range extender + three motors, with a system power of 600kW, a comprehensive range of 1,026km, and a wheelside torque of 11,592N-m, which takes into account both the strong power and the long range.
VMC Chassis Dynamic Domain Control Technology
The world’s first chassis dynamic control technology, through the centralized computing unit, collaborates with the drive, steering, suspension and other systems to realize extreme handling such as ice and snow drifting and sandy slope rushing, and at the same time, improves the stability under complex road conditions.
Rear-wheel wire-control steering and “Crab Walk” mode
It is the first off-road brand in China to equip rear-wheel wire-control steering, supporting ±10° steering angle, with a minimum turning radius of only 5.1 meters, and realizing lateral “crab-walking” movement in narrow terrains, which significantly improves maneuverability.
All Terrain Intelligent Off-Road System (M-ATS)
M-ATS system is equipped with three electronically controlled differential locks (independent locks for front and rear axles + central virtual lock), which, combined with intelligent terrain prediction and torque distribution algorithms, can automatically identify 9 types of terrain such as sandy and rocky terrain, and realize millisecond response adjustments to improve the ability to get out of trouble by 30%.
