Exterior Design

The Beijing BJ40e features a “five-slot” front grille, with headlight clusters incorporating loop-shaped LED light strips. The side profile showcases the vehicle’s signature boxy silhouette, while the rear features a mounted spare tire and a side-opening tailgate, with taillights shaped like a distinctive “F.” The vehicle is available in a variety of exterior colors, including Midnight Black, Iron Gray, and Snow White.

In terms of dimensions, the standard and long-range versions measure 4,790 mm in length, 1,940 mm in width, and 1,964 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,760 mm and a curb weight of 2,640 kg. It is certified for towing up to 2.5 tons. Off-road specifications include an approach angle of 38°, a departure angle of 37°, a minimum ground clearance of 215 mm, and a wading depth of 750 mm. The official heavily modified “Chitu” version has dimensions of 4,861 mm in length, 2,065 mm in width, and 2,110 mm in height.

Interior Design

The Beijing BJ40e interior features a triple-screen layout comprising a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster and two 12.8-inch screens for the center console and passenger side, or an optional five-screen design, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip. Features include a zero-gravity passenger seat, Harman Infinity audio system, panoramic sunroof, and 256-color ambient lighting.

Powertrain

The Beijing BJ40e is equipped with a 1.5T range-extended system featuring a dual-motor layout (front and rear). The front motor delivers a peak power of 153 kW and peak torque of 240 N·m, while the rear motor delivers a peak power of 250 kW and peak torque of 415 N·m [6]. The system’s combined power output is 403 kW, with a combined torque of 655 N·m [7]. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds [2]. The generator has a power output of 90 kW [6].
