The Dongfeng eπ008 is a big one. Five metres long, six seats, two rows of two plus a third row — it’s the mid-to-large SUV under Dongfeng’s eπ sub-brand, and it comes as either a pure electric (BEV) or a range-extender (REEV) vehicle. Exterior

Five metres, basically. 5002 mm long, 1972 wide, 1732 tall — those are the numbers that matter when you’re picturing it in a parking bay. The wheelbase is 3025 mm. That’s the bit that buys the third row its legroom, and honestly it shows.

The face is calm. A full-width light bar up top, a closed grille with the lit brand mark sunk into it, and slim matrix tail lights at the back. Hidden door handles, the kind that sit flush until you walk up. The one people photograph is the lit logo — small thing, but buyers notice.

Wheels are 20 or 21 inch, your call. Drag coefficient lands at 0.28, which is quiet for something this tall. You’ll want that on a highway run. Floating roof effect comes from the blacked-out window trim — the short version, it looks more expensive than it is.

Interior

Calmer in here than the shell outside would have you expect. A 15.6-inch floating screen sits centre, with a digital cluster tucked behind the wheel. Snapdragon 8295 does the processing now — that’s the 2026 update — so nothing lags. Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto are there, mind you, and there’s a fridge option in the console that does 5 to 50 degrees. Six and a half litres, the one people actually use on a road trip.

Seats are where it earns the family tag. Six-seat layout is 2+2+2, and the second row gets zero-gravity chairs with massage on the newer trims. The rear screen is 21.4 inches if you tick it — the bit I’d actually point out to a customer is that the glass is double-laminated front and side, so the cabin stays quiet at speed. Which is the point, at this size.

Material smell is low. They certify it as a “five-star health car,” and in my experience that’s not just a sticker — the VOC numbers sit well under the local standard. You will, eventually, spend more time in here than you think.

Powertrain and Chassis

Two ways to move it. The BEV runs a single rear motor at 200 kW and 340 N·m. Battery’s LFP, 82.28 kWh, and CLTC range comes to about 610 to 636 km depending on trim. Top speed is 180 km/h, 0–100 in around 9 seconds — not a rocket, fine for what this is.

The REEV is the clever one for markets without dense charging. Same 200 kW rear motor. But there’s a 1.5T range extender up front, a dedicated unit at 108 kW with 45.18% thermal efficiency — that’s the number the engineers like to quote. Battery is smaller, 34.32 kWh LFP. Pure-electric CLTC is about 202 km. Combined range, though, hits 1220 to 1300 km with the 51-litre tank topped. Feed-fuel consumption sits near 4.76 L/100 km. That’s the only number some buyers ask about.

Underneath there are MacPherson struts up front and a multi-link independent rear, rear-wheel drive throughout. Charging: 30 to 80 percent in about 15 minutes on the REEV with 3C, or 28 on the BEV. You’ll want that on a long haul, not in town.

Is the Dongfeng eπ008 available as both BEV and REEV? Yes, both. The BEV is pure electric with the 82.28 kWh pack; the REEV adds a 1.5T range extender for over 1200 km combined. Pick by how thin the charging network is in your market — that’s the thing, really.

What’s the real-world seating like for six adults? Six seats, 2+2+2. Second row is two independent chairs, third row fits kids or shorter adults for a while. The wheelbase does the heavy lifting. In my experience the third row is usable, not a penalty box.

Can the battery be charged from a normal wall socket? It takes AC slow charge at home and DC fast charge on the road — 30 to 80 percent in roughly 15 to 28 minutes by trim. V2L and V2V discharge are supported, so you can run gear off the car. Small thing, but buyers notice at a campsite.
