4,785 mm long, 1,840 mm wide, 1,460 mm tall, 2,765 mm wheelbase. That wheelbase is the interesting figure — it’s long for the exterior length, which is the classic Chinese sedan packaging trick, and it pays off in the back. Visually you get a conventional three-box saloon: wide, low grille, light bar across the nose. It won’t beat a European coupe-saloon in a beauty contest. It is clean, current, and it won’t look dated in three years. For a dealer holding stock, that beats flair.

Flush handles and alloys are standard. Note the charging flap position for showroom staff — a customer who plugs in daily will touch it more often than the boot lid.

Interior

Screen-forward and well resolved. A large central touchscreen handles most functions, the instrument cluster is digital, and physical switchgear is limited to the essentials. Clean, modern cabin for the Changan NEVO A05. The material mix is honest for the segment — soft-touch at the contact points, harder plastics lower down where nobody’s hands go.

Rear legroom is the standout. That long wheelbase gives adults genuine comfort on a long run, and the floor is nearly flat, so the middle passenger isn’t being punished. If your market uses sedans for chauffeur or ride-hail work — and many of the markets we ship to do — put this in the brochure instead of the horsepower.

The PHEV battery sits under or behind the rear seat in most layouts, which trims boot volume slightly against a pure combustion car. Still usable for airport runs. Check floor height and spare-wheel arrangement with us if your customers are particular about it.

Powertrain and Chassis

A PHEV — a plug-in hybrid. Two versions matter for export. Both use a 1.5-litre engine making 72 kW, which acts mainly as a generator and only drives the wheels at higher speeds. The electric side makes 140 kW, or 190 hp, or 158 kW, or 215 hp, configuration depending. Drive goes to the front through an E-CVT.

Performance varies with what you order. The quicker setup hits 100 km/h from rest in about 6.8 seconds. The more modest one takes roughly 7.9. For a family sedan both are brisk enough, and with the motor handling low-speed work, town driving feels a lot quicker than the numbers suggest.

CLTC electric-only range is 70 km or 145 km, battery depending. This is the number that decides your sale. Customers with home charging and short commutes? The 145 km version runs as an electric car almost all week, engine as insurance. Awkward charging? The 70 km version still covers the school run and the shopping on electricity alone.

Chassis is MacPherson front, torsion beam rear, front-wheel drive, tuned for comfort rather than response. Exactly right for this class and for how most buyers will use the Changan NEVO A05. Ride quality over poor surfaces is decent, and NVH in electric mode is naturally very good.

Is the A05 suitable for ride-hailing or fleet use? One of the better propositions for that work, honestly. The 145 km version covers a typical urban shift mostly on electricity. The long wheelbase gives rear passengers comfort they’ll notice and mention. And the E-CVT has no clutch to wear out in stop-start traffic.
