Exterior Design

The Toyota Wildlander largely retains the authentic exterior design of the all-new overseas RAV4 with minimal modifications, differing only in the fog lamp area. Its overall styling aligns more closely with the previous-generation RAV4, featuring a rugged aesthetic and muscular presence. The front fascia minimizes traditional gasoline-powered vehicle elements, notably eliminating the large “grille mouth” in favor of a frameless honeycomb grille—a design more reminiscent of new energy vehicles.

A black trim strip connects the headlights, though it does not form a continuous light bar. The headlights feature dual-layer daytime running lights (DRLs) above and below, with projector-style LED headlights positioned in the center. Below the headlights lies the currently popular air duct design—the sole difference from the overseas version, which features fog lights in this area. The grille also conceals a camera for the panoramic view system and transparent underbody display. A single camera mounted on the windshield primarily supports the driver assistance system.

In terms of dimensions, the Toyota Wildlander measures 4600mm in length, 1855mm in width, and 1680mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2690mm. Compared to the previous-generation Wildlander, the length has been reduced by 65mm, while other dimensions remain unchanged. The sculpted Y-shaped character line along the doors and black fender flares reinforce the vehicle’s rugged character. The domestic model adopts an all-black design, omitting the chrome trim found on overseas variants. It features 20-inch five-spoke petal-style wheels and retains the classic mechanical door handles.

Interior Design

The Toyota Wildlander’s cabin inherits the “skeleton”—the overall layout—of the overseas all-new RAV4. However, the “skin”—interior materials and features—differs significantly, with the domestic model offering noticeably higher-grade finishes. The black-and-white color scheme exudes modernity, marking an innovative departure for Toyota’s gasoline vehicles. Compared to past traditional palettes, this new interior clearly aligns better with younger consumers’ aesthetics. Soft-touch materials cover all visible surfaces, complemented by metallic-finish accents, creating a design language distinct from previous iterations.

The Wildlander features a high-resolution instrument cluster displaying driver assistance system information and speed limits, alongside a head-up display system. The lower section of the center console incorporates tiered storage compartments and provides up to 45W Type-C charging. It retains driving mode and snow mode switches, while the compact electronic gear selector appears more refined. The center armrest opens from either side and allows the cover plate to be removed and flipped over, temporarily transforming into a small tabletop for placing food. Below the rear air vents, a 15W Type-C charging port is positioned. The climate control system incorporates an intelligent air management feature and an aroma diffuser. The cabin also features a panoramic sunroof. The rear center armrest includes cup holders, and the seatbacks fold down in a 4/6 split to create a larger storage area. The overall trunk space is quite generous and incorporates a power tailgate.

Powertrain

The Toyota Wildlander utilizes the fifth-generation Toyota Hybrid System, delivering high efficiency across all driving conditions. It achieves the widest coverage of the highest thermal efficiency operating range, low fuel consumption across all speeds, extended range across all temperatures, and maintains low fuel consumption even in cold conditions. The all-new Wildlander offers three powertrain options: a 2.0L gasoline engine, a 2.0L hybrid, and a 2.5L hybrid. Their combined power outputs are 126 kW, 144 kW, and 174 kW respectively, with a minimum WLTC combined fuel consumption of 4.59 L/100 km. Notably, the new model introduces a 2.0L hybrid variant for the first time, achieving a 28% reduction in fuel consumption compared to the previous-generation 2.0L gasoline model, with a fuel consumption of 4.59L/100km. The 2.5L HEV variant reduces fuel consumption by 6.1% compared to its predecessor, achieving 4.91L/100km while delivering a 6.8% increase in power output, reaching a maximum power of 174kW.
