The ID. ERA 9X is positioned as a 6-seat extended-range SUV. According to data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the vehicle measures 5,207 mm in length, 1,997 mm in width, and 1,810 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,070 mm. Thanks to its classic short front and rear overhangs, the ID. ERA 9X unlocks the “golden ratio” formula exclusive to flagship models: a 4:1 wheelbase-to-overhang ratio creates a sleek, elongated visual tension along the flanks, while a 2.5:1 wheel-to-height ratio lowers the center of gravity to project a solid, dynamic stance. Combined with a 1:2 window-to-body ratio and large windows, the vehicle exudes the bold, rugged presence of a full-size SUV while also radiating an elegant, premium feel—making a stunning first impression. The “2+2+2” seating configuration balances practicality and comfort, offering flexible space utilization to meet the travel needs of most families.

In terms of design language, the ID. ERA 9X adopts a new aesthetic characterized by “grandness, purity, and ruggedness,” skillfully integrating Eastern design philosophy to create a unique “Volkswagen” aesthetic. The body features an integrated design that unites structure and function, with flowing surfaces and clean lines. Its minimalist lines define a body with golden proportions that not only align with global aesthetic standards but also fully account for the diverse driving scenarios of Chinese families.

The vehicle’s body structure is defined by three core character lines: the shoulder line runs from front to rear, tall and slender, highlighting solid strength; the roofline gently slopes downward in an elegant arc, effectively enhancing aerodynamic efficiency; and the lower body line rises sharply, lifting the visual center of gravity and imparting a light, agile, and dynamic stance to the body. Combined with the sculptural feel created by full, continuous surfaces, the entire vehicle presents a seamless, cohesive form with dynamic tension.

Additionally, the ID. ERA 9X’s headlights build upon the brand’s classic horizontal visual DNA while offering a fresh, digital interpretation. The “Cosmic Light Wing” continuous light strip design offers a highly distinctive technological identity; when illuminated at night, it exudes a profound elegance that leaves a lasting impression.

Inside the cabin, the vehicle features a 15.6-inch ultra-high-definition dual-screen setup for the driver and front passenger, along with a 21.4-inch foldable rear overhead screen, complemented by a perspective-correcting film that expands the field of view. The vehicle features a six-seat layout, complete with a “Queen’s Seat” and executive-class second-row seats. It will debut with dynamic zero-gravity seats, featuring 12L high-capacity cushion airbags.

In terms of powertrain, the vehicle is equipped with SAIC Volkswagen’s hybrid system, featuring an EA211 engine as the range extender. This range extender is based on the EA211 1.5T EVO II engine and is equipped with a VTG variable-geometry turbocharger capable of adjusting airflow based on operating conditions; it utilizes the Miller cycle in conjunction with a 350-bar high-pressure fuel system to achieve high thermal efficiency and low emissions; The water-cooled integrated intercooler helps reduce intake air temperature, while the close-coupled exhaust purification system minimizes component resonance. By leveraging technologies such as the Miller cycle and the VTG variable-geometry turbocharger, this system aims to address common issues found in traditional range-extended vehicles. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with a 65.2 kWh battery, offering a CLTC-rated all-electric range exceeding 400 km and a combined range of over 1,600 km.

In terms of intelligent driving, the new vehicle will be equipped with the Xingyun Intelligent Driving Assistance System, jointly developed by SAIC Volkswagen and Momenta. Regarding the chassis, the ID. ERA 9X will adopt the Xingyun Intelligent Chassis System, featuring a dual-chamber air suspension with an exceptionally large adjustment range of 150 mm.
