On June 23, BYD officially announced the launch of its all-new flagship all-electric SUV, the Great Tang EV, with a suggested retail price range of ¥239,900–$309,900. With its “top-tier” product capabilities both inside and out, it has sparked a new flagship trend in the all-electric family SUV market and further solidified BYD’s influence in the high-end new energy vehicle market.

As the flagship model of BYD’s Dynasty Series, the Great Tang EV’s exterior design carries forward the family’s iconic “Dragon Aesthetics” while taking it to a whole new level. The large, borderless closed-off front grille is paired with full-width “Chinese knot”-style taillights; when the flowing LED daytime running lights are illuminated, they offer maximum visual recognition. The streamlined character line on the side of the vehicle extends from the fenders to the rear, achieving a drag coefficient as low as 0.219—further optimizing range performance while maintaining a commanding, flagship presence. The 21-inch multi-spoke sport wheels, paired with Brembo high-performance brake calipers, give the vehicle a presence that rivals that of overseas luxury brands in the same price range.
Stepping inside, the “interior” of the Great Tang EV is even more impressive. The entire cabin is upholstered in a combination of Nappa leather and suede, and the seats feature heating, ventilation, and multi-level massage functions, with dedicated memory settings for both the driver and front passenger seats.
The 15.6-inch adaptive rotating floating touchscreen is equipped with BYD’s latest DiLink smart infotainment system, supporting 5G high-speed connectivity, full-scenario voice control, and a vast array of app extensions. Combined with the rear-seat independent entertainment screens and a 12-speaker Hi-Fi Dynaudio sound system, every passenger on board can enjoy a personalized luxury experience. The vehicle is also equipped with the DiPilot advanced intelligent driving assistance system, which offers more than 20 active safety features—including highway pilot and urban NOA (Navigation-based Autonomous Driving)—to maximize safety during every journey.

In terms of power and range, the Great Tang EV is available in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions. The all-wheel drive model features dual front and rear motors, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds—performance on par with luxury sports cars. Equipped with BYD’s latest-generation Blade Battery, it achieves a maximum CLTC range exceeding 730 km and supports an 800V high-voltage fast-charging platform, delivering 300 km of range after just 10 minutes of charging—completely eliminating range anxiety.
Evolving from a popular SUV of the fuel-powered era to today’s all-electric flagship, the BYD Great Tang EV—priced between 239,900 and 309,900 yuan—brings flagship features, once accessible only to a select few, to the mainstream consumer market, once again demonstrating BYD’s brand philosophy of “technology for all.” The launch of this vehicle will also further shake up the competitive landscape of the domestic mid-to-high-end all-electric SUV segment, offering consumers a flagship option with even better value for money.
