The Honda e:NS1 sits in a useful middle ground. Dimensionally: 4,390 mm long, 1,790 mm wide, 1,560 mm tall, 2,610 mm between the axles.
Compact SUV, officially. In the metal, though, the proportions read closer to a raised hatchback than a shrunken full-size truck — and I’d argue that’s the smarter call. It places easily in traffic. It parks without drama. It doesn’t pretend.
The shape isn’t why a distributor should care, mind you. The badge is. Honda carries recognition in markets where a new Chinese name has to be explained from zero, and that recognition does real work on the showroom floor. Put the Honda e:NS1 out front and people who’ve owned a Honda before will walk over unprompted. That’s a marketing cost you simply don’t pay.
Clean design, closed-off EV nose, fairly upright stance. It looks like a Honda. That’s the point. Paint and materials hold up to what you’d expect of a Japanese-badged car built in China, and panel gaps are consistent. There’s a nameplate treatment that makes the electric version obvious at a glance, which saves your sales staff from explaining the petrol range every time.
Interior
Honda’s packaging reputation is earned, and it shows. 2,610 mm isn’t a big wheelbase, yet the cabin feels roomier than the number suggests — clever layout, flat floor, the classic Honda trick. Four adults ride comfortably. Five works for shorter trips. Rear legroom is genuinely good for the class, and that’s the kind of thing a customer notices on a test drive without ever reading the spec sheet.
Tech is present, but not in your face. Screens are legible, controls sit where you’d reach for them anyway. That matters more than people admit. Anyone who’s driven conventional cars for twenty years gets irritated fast by an interface that buries basic functions behind three menus. Honda got the balance right, in my view.
Two things to raise with us early. Connectivity and infotainment options vary by market — confirm what’s available in your country before you print brochures. And in hot-climate markets, ask about rear ventilation and tint specification. A compact SUV with this much glass benefits from both, a lot.
Powertrain and Chassis
One front-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor, in two states of tune. Lower variant: 134 kW, or 182 hp. Higher: 150 kW, or 204 hp. Both put out 310 Nm, and that’s the number that makes the car feel quicker than the output figures imply in normal driving.
The battery is a CATL ternary lithium pack — 53.6 kWh or 68.8 kWh, depending on version. That works out to 420 km or 510 km on the CLTC cycle. 0-100 km/h takes 8.1 seconds in the lower car, 7.7 in the higher one.
Straight talk on those numbers. This is not a performance EV, and the Honda e:NS1 never claims to be. It’s a well-judged daily electric car from a brand customers already trust, with enough range that most owners charge once or twice a week rather than thinking about it constantly. The 310 Nm makes city driving relaxed. For most markets, that’s the actual use case.
Chassis is front-wheel drive, strut front and multi-link rear by trim. The tuning leans toward comfort and stability rather than sharpness — correct for this buyer. Ask us for exact tyre, brake and suspension spec per variant so your listings are precise.
FAQ
Why would a customer buy the e:NS1 rather than a newer Chinese EV? Brand familiarity, mostly. Honestly, that’s the bulk of it. Someone who’s owned Hondas for years knows the service network, knows what reliability to expect, and doesn’t need convincing that this is a real car company. In markets where buyers are wary of unfamiliar names, that’s powerful. The second reason is how it drives — the e:NS1 feels like a conventional car, which reassures first-time EV buyers. If that’s your customer, this is your product.
Which battery version should I stock? Both, ideally, and let the market sort it out. 53.6 kWh with 420 km suits urban and suburban buyers who charge at home and rarely leave the city. 68.8 kWh with 510 km suits people doing longer intercity runs, or living somewhere charging coverage is thin. The price step between them usually decides it for the customer. Forced to pick one for a first order? Take the bigger battery if your market is spread out. Take the smaller if it’s dense.
What are the servicing requirements? No engine, no transmission, no oil, no exhaust. The routine side is far lighter than a combustion Honda. Your workshop still needs high-voltage safety training, battery-safe lifting gear and diagnostic access. Consumables: tyres, brakes, cabin filters, brake fluid.
