Chery built the iCAR 03T as the rough-looking sibling of the 03. Same boxy bones underneath. The body just gets a wider track, fatter arches, and a ride height lifted enough that it reads like a trail car instead of a city crossover. Landed in China in late August 2024. The badge flips the moment it crosses a border — that trips up first-time importers, so keep it in mind.

No engine in this one. No generator either. Just motors and a sizeable LFP pack, which is the whole point. It’s a small SUV with attitude, not a real off-roader. Think of it as the weekend version of an already square car: enough ground clearance and a couple of drive modes to handle a dirt road or a beach lot, aimed at buyers who want the look without dropping daily comfort. Specs wobble a bit market to market — normal for a Chinese export model — so treat the numbers below as the core build.

Exterior

The 03T’s front bumper is beefier than the plain car’s, with bigger intakes and a stance that actually does something rather than only posing. Arches are flared and they work — real vents tucked inside, not stickers. Lighting is slim LED front and back, and the thing sits high on 19s in 245/55 rubber. That’s what gives it the planted, ready-for-anything look.

Colours lean young. Toronto Red and a Power Yellow sit next to the quieter Khaki White, Cyan Grey, Starlight Silver and Carbon Black. Roof stays flat. Glass is panoramic on most trims, which opens the cabin more than you’d expect from a body this short.

Everyone asks size first, so: 4,380 mm long. 1,916 wide. 1,741 tall. Wheelbase 2,715 mm. That’s compact-SUV ground, a touch longer than the base 03. Ground clearance runs about 200 to 225 mm with load. Approach roughly 27 degrees, departure about 28 to 31. Not a rock crawler — it’ll take ruts and ramps that would scrape a normal hatchback, then call it a day.

Interior

Step in and the mood drops. A 9.2-inch cluster sits behind the wheel, a 15.6-inch screen floats above the dash, both on the Snapdragon 8155, so nothing lags. Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, plus a 50-watt pad so your phone charges without a cable trailing everywhere.

Space is good for the size. Five seats. Boot is 450 litres, opens to around 1,238 once the 60/40 bench folds, and there’s a small 40-litre box at the back for wet gear or cables. Front seats power-adjust with heat and ventilation; the AWD car adds massage up front, a nice touch on a long drive. Trim is synthetic leather — durable, not plush, which suits the brief. Audio is eight speakers on the 2WD, twelve from Infinity on the AWD. Four-zone voice means someone in the back can talk to the car without the driver repeating it.

Powertrain and Chassis

Here’s the heart of it: the iCAR 03T is a BEV. Battery, motors, nothing burning fuel. Power comes from a 69.77 kWh CATL LFP pack with liquid cooling. Two ways to drive it. Rear-wheel drive gets one 135 kW motor, 220 Nm, a CLTC range near 520 km. Go all-wheel and a second motor joins the front axle — 205 kW, 385 Nm combined, 0–100 in 6.5 seconds, range about 501 km CLTC. Both capped at 150 km/h, plenty for this kind of car.

Charging is simple. A DC fast charger takes the pack from 30 to 80 percent in about half an hour. There’s 3.3 kW of vehicle-to-load, so a fridge or tools run off the battery at a campsite. I won’t quote an AC figure — it shifts by market — but the DC number is the one that matters on a trip.

Underneath, MacPherson struts hold the front, a multi-link the rear, independent all round, which keeps the tall body steady through a corner. Discs ventilated up front, solid at the back. The AWD car brings crawl control and a tank-turn for tight spots, plus a stack of off-road modes; the rear-drive car stays with Eco, Normal, Sport and Custom. Six airbags and a Level 2+ suite cover safety — 540-degree camera, adaptive cruise, automatic braking, the usual lane and blind-spot warnings.

One honest note for buyers comparing markets: a range-extender (REEV) version of the iCAUR 03T shows up in a few Gulf markets, a small petrol generator bolted to the electric drivetrain. The car reviewed here is the BEV, the core version sold in China and most export regions.

CLTC gives roughly 520 km rear-drive, 501 km all-wheel, though overseas brochures often quote NEDC or WLTP that land lower — check which cycle yours uses. A DC fast charger fills 30 to 80 percent in about 30 minutes, and there’s 3.3 kW of vehicle-to-load for camp kit.
