The Wuling Starlight 560 is the SUV body of Wuling’s Starlight line. Not the Starlight sedan — and worth saying out loud before anyone mixes the two up. This page is about the petrol version, mind you. There is a plug-in hybrid and a pure-electric sibling in the same nameplate, but the one we’re covering here burns fuel and nothing else. SGMW built it as a 5-door, 5-seat SUV, 4,745 mm long with a 2,810 mm wheelbase. The short version is this: it’s a proper hard-space family SUV that you fill at a pump, not a charger.
Exterior
Squared-off and honest about it. The petrol version wears a black honeycomb grille up front — that’s the fuel face, not the sealed electric look. Side lines are dead straight. The roof rails and black wheel arches do the rough-road talking, and the whole thing stands like a real small SUV, not a lifted hatch.
At 1,850 mm wide and 1,755 mm tall, it has presence. In the high trim it grows to 1,770 mm, which is the point, at this price — you get the look of a bigger car. Four colours cover the usual bases, and the 2810 mm wheelbase sits inside a 4745 mm body. That’s cabin space you can sell without stretching the truth.
Park it next to anything in the class and the overhangs are short. The approach angle is 17° and the departure angle is 22°, so it clears curbs and ramps without drama. Eighteen-inch wheels wear 215/55 R18 or 225/55 R18 tyres depending on trim. Small thing, but buyers notice the stance.
Interior
Roomier than the outside hints. The Wuling Starlight 560 petrol version keeps a traditional mechanical gear shifter — not the electronic column shift. In my experience, that’s what most drivers actually want in a fuel car, and it frees the centre console for proper storage.
The screen is a 12.8-inch floating unit with a rectangular digital cluster. It runs HiCar, CarLink and DLNA phone linking, so buyer phones just connect. You get a 540° around-view camera, which is the thing, really, for tight city lots and trailheads alike. The cabin wraps around the driver in a cocoon-style layout, and the rear floor is flat — no tunnel hump to fight over.
The boot does the clever thing. There’s 763 L of normal space, a hidden 184 L sunken layer under that, 947 L total. Fold the second row flat and you reach 1,945 L when someone’s moving a couch. Across the car there are 25 storage spots and a 32 L hideaway under the rear seat cushion. The second-row seats fold dead flat too, and the rear bench is 1,463 mm wide. That’s a 83% space-use rate, which is the point, at this price.
Powertrain and Chassis
Here’s the headline: the Wuling Starlight 560 is a fuel car, not a hybrid, not electric. No charging port, full stop — you put in 92-octane gasoline and drive. That’s the thing, really, for markets where chargers are thin on the ground. Oddly enough, that’s the version dealers keep asking about first.
The engine is a 1.5T turbo four-cylinder with Miller cycle. Max power lands at 130 kW, that’s 177 hp in old money. Peak torque is 260 N·m on the manual and 290 N·m on the CVT version. It uses multipoint port injection and meets China’s National VI b standard, so emissions are current.
You get two gearbox choices. A 6-speed manual for the keen driver, or a CVT for the easy commute. Drive goes to the front wheels only — front-wheel drive, FWD. Simplicity is the selling point here, not spec-sheet heroics, and it keeps running costs low. Right, that’s the point, at this price.
Fuel use is genuinely good. WLTC combined is 6.99 L/100 km on the manual and 7.58 L/100 km on the CVT. The tank holds 52 litres, so real-world range is long between fills. For a 5-seat SUV of this size, you’ll be glad at the pump, eventually.
Underneath, it rides on MacPherson struts up front and a multi-link independent rear. That’s unusual at this size and it shows in the way it settles. The body is a six-ring high-strength steel cage — 74.9% high-strength steel, with 1500 MPa hot-formed steel in 20 spots. The front crash beam has a 2.5 mm aluminium energy-absorbing box. That’s the chassis you feel, not the one you spec-sheet.
FAQ
Is the Starlight 560 the same as the Starlight sedan? No. The Starlight name covers a sedan and now this SUV. The 560 is the SUV body, taller, with the 2810 mm wheelbase in a 5-seat layout. Different platform, different buyer.
How big is it, and can I get 7 seats? It’s 4,745 mm long, 1,850 mm wide, 1,755–1,770 mm tall, on a 2,810 mm wheelbase. It’s a 5-door SUV sold as 5-seat or 7-seat. The 7-seat option is handy for fleets and family markets, and the boot still folds flat.
What equipment comes on the petrol version? Standard highlights: 12.8-inch screen with phone linking, 540° camera, flat rear floor, mechanical shifter. Options include power driver seat, keyless entry and start, and heated power-folding mirrors. Curb weight runs about 1,445–1,520 kg.
Can I import the Wuling Starlight 560 to my country? Yes. We handle export documentation, homologation paperwork support, ocean freight and port arrival for overseas buyers — dealers and self-importers alike. Tell us your destination port and target volume and we’ll scope the shipment and the certification path.
How do you supply the car and how do we start? We source directly from the SGMW plant and manage the export chain end to end: booking, bills of lading, marine insurance, delivery to your port. To start, send your market, required variants (6MT or CVT) and quantity. We’ll quote the minimum order, lead time and the shipping window.
