Since 1958, when Beijing Automobile Works (now divested and sold) produced the first self-developed car – “Jinggangshan” brand sedan, BAIC Group has independently developed and produced China’s first-generation light off-road vehicle BJ212 and the first-generation light truck BJ130, established the first vehicle manufacturing joint venture in China’s automobile industry – Beijing Jeep Automobile Co. Since then, BAIC has independently developed and produced China’s first-generation light off-road vehicle BJ212 and first-generation light truck BJ130, established Beijing Jeep Automobile Company Limited, the first vehicle manufacturing joint venture in China’s automobile industry, and Beijing Hyundai Motor Company Limited, the first vehicle manufacturing joint venture after China’s accession to the WTO, as well as deepened its strategic joint venture cooperation. BAIC Group has been at the forefront of the industry in opening up to the outside world, transforming mechanisms, absorbing foreign investment, introducing technology and utilizing social capital, and has made positive contributions to the development of China’s automobile industry. BAIC Group owns Beijing Automobile, BAIC New Energy, BAIC Foton, Beijing Hyundai, Beijing Benz and other famous enterprises and R&D organizations. Centered in Beijing, BAIC Group has established vehicle bases for passenger cars of its own brand, commercial vehicles of its own brand, new energy vehicles, and passenger cars of joint venture brands in more than ten provinces and cities across China.
