GAC Aion (formerly known as GAC New Energy) is an automotive brand of Guangzhou Automobile Group Co. On July 28, 2017, the GAC New Energy brand was announced to be officially registered and established, and it has launched the construction of the first phase of the plant with an investment of RMB 4.697 billion and a production capacity of 200,000 vehicles/year, which will be followed up by a total cumulative investment of more than RMB 45 billion in collaboration with its partners to build the GAC Smart New Energy Vehicle Industrial Park. 2020 At the Guangzhou Auto Show, the GAC Aion brand officially became independent and was renamed from GAC New Energy to GAC Aion.
